Roughly twelve hours ago, my best friend hit me to wake me up. She shoved her phone in my face and didn’t say anything. On the screen it said, “New email – Kristen Thornton”, we both knew exactly what this meant. I sat up and she read her congratulations email. I freaked out with her, but only briefly, because at this point, I still had no idea whether I was accepted into the Disney International College Program for summer 2013.

We had spent most of the day (and almost all of the night) talking about our hopes for the program, picking apart every bit of the interview we just had a day prior. Only one day had passed, but the wait was already unbearable.

My computer takes approximately seven thousand years to turn on and my heart was pounding the whole time. Finally, I was able to open my email, and I have to say, there’s no better feeling than seeing this in your inbox;

 I hope you enjoyed the interviews and are more excited for Florida!  The Walt Disney World Representatives have informed me it was pleasure meeting you and also gave me the enjoyment to be the first to say…..

 Disney World would like to offer you a Role in Operations

 on the J1 Summer Program 2013 starting May 14, 2013- August 2, 2013

 We will be emailing you all specifics of your program and the Disney within the next 3 weeks.  In the meantime, please do confirm if you are interested in accepting this position and to work at the “Happiest Place on Earth”!

Meagan and I tried to figure out who we had to tell first, who to call, who to text, how to post to Facebook. It all felt very surreal. Getting your dream job with your best friend and finding out you both got it while together is about as good as it gets. I texted my significant other and woke him up, in his inbox was another congratulations email.

The Facebook group full of wannabe summer ICPs exploded. People declaring that they got it, spreading congratulations, and asking who was filling which role. I was ecstatic to see that so many of the wonderful people I met at my interview on Thursday were also offered jobs.

Here’s to another summer of Disney, blogging and wonderful people. I can’t imagine how any summer can top my 2012 months at Muppet Vision 3D, but I will do my best to make this one even better.

Only 101 days to wait. Hope you’ll bear with me through this second round adventure.

With love,
